New Jersey Inmate Pleads Not Guilty in Cellmate's Death

A New Jersey prison inmate has pleaded not guilty to killing his cellmate.

Fifty-year-old Geraldo Ramirez was charged last week with murder in connection with the Nov. 6 beating death of 71-year-old Gary Holliday at Northern State Prison in Newark.

Holliday was found unresponsive in the cell he shared with Ramirez. The official cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Ramirez is serving a 10-year sentence for a robbery in Cumberland County.

Holliday had been behind bars since 2005 in connection with an aggravated assault in Burlington County.
