New Jersey Borough Seeks Review of Police Discipline Process

A northern New Jersey town has appointed an independent investigator to examine the culture within its police department and the circumstances leading to the suspensions of two officers.

The Record newspaper reported the Glen Rock Borough Council on Wednesday called for a special investigation by a retired Superior Court judge.

Sgt. Christopher McInerney and Officer Bryan Scott were suspended in December following allegations that they deleted pictures from the department's computer server. Chief Fred Stahman recommended they be fired.

But they were reinstated by the council in March.

The images allegedly showed McInerney exposing his buttocks in the department's locker room.

The investigation is analyzing how the discipline process played out against the two officers.

Stahman says the department has ``nothing to hide'' and he welcomes the investigation.
