New Jersey Bill Aims to Make Smoking While Driving With Children in Automobile Illegal

A top New Jersey lawmaker has introduced a bill to make smoking in automobiles when children are present a ticketable offense.

State Senator Joseph Vitale introduced the bill into the state senate to allow police to ticket people smoking with children 16 or younger inside the vehicle.

The bill includes all smoking devices including cigars, cigarettes, pipe and even electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes.

The offense would be a secondary offense meaning drivers could not be pulled over just for the smoking, they would have to be pulled over for another offense and then could face fines for smoking if children are in the automobile.
