Students across New Jersey are sitting down at school computers to get their first look at a new standardized test that's being derided by some parents and educators.
Monday is the first day of testing for some New Jersey students under the new exam developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
Students in 3rd through 11th grades are taking the test this month and again at the end of the school year.
Some parent groups are protesting and encouraging parents to have their children opt out.
A report in The Record finds that school officials in Bergen and Passaic Counties are expecting a large majority of pupils to take the tests.
