New Castle County officials have agreed to pay $87,500 to settle a federal lawsuit filed by a Claymont woman who was bitten by a police dog.
Jordan Hyland, who was 23 years old and 32 weeks pregnant at the time, said she was bitten in June 2012 after she sat down on a curb to rest while walking to her mother's home.
At the time, the dog was participating in a search for two robbery suspects.
Attorneys agreed to dismiss the case last month but details were not known until The Associated Press recently obtained a copy of the settlement following a public records request.
Officials pulled the dog from duty pending a review of the incident.
A police spokeswoman said Tuesday that the dog is not currently in service.
