NBC10 and Telemundo62's Special Coverage and Programming During Wawa Welcome America

NBC10 AND TELEMUNDO62 TO AIR EXTENSIVE COVERAGE AND SPECIAL PROGRAMMING DURING WAWA WELCOME AMERICA

As the official broadcast partner of Wawa Welcome America, the station will air the 4th of July parade, concert and fireworks, and special programs throughout the week

PHILADELPHIA (July 1, 2019) – As the official broadcast partner of Wawa Welcome America, NBC10 and Telemundo62 will produce special coverage of the more than 50 free events throughout the week. NBC10 and Telemundo62 will air the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony and Salute to America Independence Day Parade live from Independence Hall on Thursday, July 4. NBC10 will broadcast the Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and Fireworks on Thursday, July 4th live from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during prime time in its entirety from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The live concert and coverage will also be live streamed on NBC10.com and on Telemundo62.com and can be viewed on any screen – TV, iPad or tablet, smartphone, etc. For the first time, it will be live streamed on NBC10’s YouTube channel. It will also be made available on Xfinity On Demand. Comcast NBCUniversal is the presenting media partner of the festival providing exclusive service ranging from broadcast to communications.

The complete programming schedule includes:

Wednesday, July 3 

5 PM - Telemundo62 will air “La Antesala de Wawa Welcome America,” a 30-minute show hosted by anchor/reporter Yaima Crespo that will preview all the exciting events planned for July 4th in Spanish. It will also air on TeleXitos.

7 PM - NBC10 will air “NBC10 Presents: America’s Birthday Bash,” a 30-minute show hosted by NBC10 anchors Keith Jones and Erin Coleman that will preview what’s to come for July 4th, plus a look at all the free fun we’ve had so far.

Thursday, July 4 

10 AM – NBC10 will air the “Celebration of Freedom Ceremony/Salute to America Independence Day Parade,” from 10 a.m. to Noon, featuring the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony and the Salute to America Independence Day Parade live from Independence Hall hosted by Tracy Davidson and Vai Sikahema. Telemundo62 will air Spanish language coverage which will be hosted by Telemundo62 anchor Brian Mendoza and Reporter Yaima Crespo.

7 PM - NBC10 will air the “Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert on the Parkway” live on the Independence Blue Cross Stage from 7 to 9:30 p.m. hosted by NBC10 anchors Erin Coleman, Keith Jones, Jacqueline London, and Jim Rosenfield. The show will feature live performances by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Meghan Trainor, and appearing with the POPS BIG Band, two-time Grammy Award-winning artist and Academy Award-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson. The concert will air in Spanish on the TeleXitos network and will be hosted by Telemundo62 sports anchor Jaime Becerril and Reporter Yaima Crespo. 

9:30 PM - NBC10 will air Fireworks on the Parkway from 9:30 to 10 p.m. TeleXitos will also air the coverage in Spanish.

10 PM - NBC10 will air Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular from 10 p.m. to midnight.

12 AM - NBC10 will air local news with Rosemary Connors at midnight. 

Friday, July 5

7 PM – NBC10 will air “Best of the July 4th Parkway Celebration,” coverage highlights of the 4th of July Fireworks and Concert on the Parkway from 7 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 6 

1 PM - NBC10 will re-air “Best of the July 4th Parkway Celebration,” from 1 to 2 p.m.

Sunday, July 7 

6 PM – COZI-TV will re-air “Best of the July 4th Parkway Celebration” from 6 to 7 p.m.
