Investigators are trying to piece together an apparent murder-suicide in a quiet Bucks County community.
Police believe Joseph Lofft, 50, shot and killed his partner of more than 20 years before turning the gun on himself.
Their housekeeper called officials when she entered the Solebury Township home to find it completely ransacked with large amounts of blood splattered throughout the house.
Jerry Rudman, a 48-year old CPA with GlaxoSmithKline, was found dead in the couple's garage. Lofft, a local pharmacist, was found in bed with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
They found two guns and letters from Lofft to his mother and to whomever would care for the couple's two cats.
Lofft was arrested last Wednesday for driving under the influence. It was the last time anyone saw him, police said.
The couple's neighbors were shocked by news of the murders.
"I am just, I am beside myself," said Toni Covin as she fought back tears Thursday.
Police will continue their investigation.
