Mural Dedicated to Firefighter Killed in Fabric Row Blaze

Philadelphia Fire Battalion Chief Michael Goodwin Sr. smiles down on the residents of Port Richmond in a new mural dedicated Saturday in his memory.

Goodwin, 53, was killed in the line of duty while fighting a three-alarm blaze along Fabric Row on April 6, 2013. The late father of two was cutting holes in the roof of Jack B. Fabrics along 4th Street when it gave way. He fell through two floors and two walls collapsed.

Muralist Nathaniel Lee painted the portrait by Jesse Gardner on the wall of Ladder 16 at E. Huntington and Belgrade streets.

Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer and Mayor Michael Nutter helped dedicate the mural.
