Teen Girl Fights Back Against Sexual Assault: Police

A teenage girl left her would-be rapist needing more medical attention than she did after she fought back during a sexual assault inside a city motel.

The girl grabbed a box cutter to fight back during what Philadelphia police called a “potential rape” inside a room at the North American Motor Lodge along City Avenue in the Wynnefield Heights section of the city around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The bloodied suspect actually hinted police to the investigation after he called them to report an assault.

“We found him bleeding… got him to the hospital and that’s when we found out the story,” said Philadelphia Police Sgt. Michael Lauder.

The unidentified man was slashed on his neck and throat and was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

After fighting back against the attack, the 17-year-old ran off and flagged down police at 46th Street and Sherwood Road -- about two blocks away. She left the box cutter at that scene, according to police.

The girl was taken to the Special Victims Unit to be interviewed.

A second young woman was also at the scene and police hoped to find out what role she played in the incident.
