Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in a lawsuit filed by former Atlantic City Police Chief John Mooney.
Mooney alleges he was discriminated and retaliated against when he reported what he believed were inappropriate acts by the city administration.
Mooney retired in 2010 rather than take a demotion when the city hired a public safety director.
The Press of Atlantic City reports Mooney is seeking damages for the 2-1/2 years that remained on his contract along with reinstatement to chief.

The paper reports that Mooney previously requested that he also have the opportunity to resume his career if he chooses to do so.
It's unclear how long the trial could last.
