MontCo Black Bear Caught

A black bear that was spotted in the yard of a home in Montgomery County Sunday was caught Monday.

Police and the Game Commission were called to the Gilbertsville area around 8 p.m. on Sunday after neighbors caught on camera the bear going through their yards.

They say the bear was eating from bird feeders in their yards and then ran off into the nearby woods.

Michele Wensel spotted the bear twice.

“I was driving down the road and out of no where this big black bear crossed in front of me and immediately I called 9-1-1.”

Wensel saw the bear a second time in her backyard when she arrived home.

The bear was tranquilized and caught shortly before noon on Monday. It was later released into the wild in the Pocono Mountains.
