Woman Strikes, Kills Man After Concert: Police

Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed as he was leaving a country music concert over the weekend in Pennsylvania.

Officials in Lackawanna County said the accident was reported in Scranton, Pa. at about 10 p.m. Sunday after a Jason Aldean concert at Montage Mountain.

Police told WNEP that Michael Sanders, 33, of Dunmore was struck and killed.

Police in Scranton told The (Scranton) Times-Tribune that Ivy Giordano, 23, of Union Dale was behind the wheel of the Jeep Cherokee that struck Sanders.

Giordano was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Capt. Glenn Thomas said charges are pending the results of a blood test.

Coroner Tim Rowland said Sanders died at Geisinger Community Medical Center about 40 minutes after he was struck.

The scene was blocked off, creating a massive traffic jam and preventing people from leaving the concert for hours. Some cars didn’t get off the mountain until 3 a.m., according to WNEP.

The accident remains under investigation.
