Mom Who Left Baby in Box Will Get Mental Evaluation

Patricia Crawley had been scheduled to be sentenced Monday for abandoning the child in a cardboard box while high on crack cocaine.

A woman who abandoned her newborn daughter on a Philadelphia sidewalk just before Christmas last year is getting a mental health evaluation.

Patricia Crawley had been scheduled to be sentenced Monday for abandoning the child in a cardboard box while high on crack cocaine. She's now scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 20.

Crawley was convicted in October of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and reckless endangerment but was found not guilty of the more serious charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

A custodian found the baby Dec. 21, 2011, near a pile of trash outside a day care center. The baby was dubbed "Baby Noel'' after being found so close to Christmas.

The child was put in foster care.
