Mom Pleads Guilty in Death of 4-Year-Old Daughter

A woman has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the death of her 4-year-old daughter and her long-term boyfriend was ordered held for trial in the case.

Twenty-five-year-old Josephita Brown of Philadelphia pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the death of her daughter Seanita on July 16.

Brown blamed her daughter's injuries on her boyfriend Edward Golphin, saying he took out his anger on the little girl when he was angry.

Golphin's attorney said Seanita's injuries were inflicted by her mother.

Investigators say Brown took her daughter to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia last July, claiming the girl was sick and had a bad case of diarrhea.

The girl was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say the girl suffered abdominal blunt force trauma and a lacerated liver. Investigators say there was old and new bruising on the girl’s body and bleeding in several places, including both ears.
