Mold was spotted within the Dr. J.P. Cleary Elementary and Collings Lakes Elementary schools in the Buena Regional School District.

Officials say the mold was spotted in isolated areas in both schools. Officials are working to clear out the mold and are also making sure the air quality is safe for students and staff.

Cleary will be closed for three weeks while Collings Lakes will be closed for two. Officials say those time frames are subject to change however and both schools will not reopen until they’re deemed safe.

The administration also may relocate the students at both schools though a decision has not yet been made.

The two schools are the latest in our area to be closed due to mold. Over the weekend, officials announced Upper Perkiomen High School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, would be closed through Sept. 14 due to mold issues.
