Philadelphia Man Dies While Swimming in Delaware River in Bucks County

A Philadelphia man is dead after he went missing while swimming in a stretch of the Delaware River in Bucks County on the Fourth of July.

Solebury Township police said the yet to be named 27-year-old man was swimming in the river with family around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday near Aquetong and River roads in Washington Crossing Park when he went under and didn't re-emerge.

Police marine units were dispatched to the area and searched the river for about an hour and a half.

A dive team recovered the man's body just before 3 p.m.

Police said they will continue to investigate, but that it appears the man's drowning was accidental.
