Millersville U. Student Found Dead on Side of Road

Officials say the body of a college student was found lying on a central Pennsylvania road, but the coroner still isn't sure how he died.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reports Millersville University student Kevin Chavez, 19, was found near a silo on the 1500 block of Silver Spring Road in West Hempfield Township around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Police say his car was parked nearby.

Lancaster County Coroner Stephen Diamantoni conducted an autopsy Tuesday and says Chavez suffered multiple traumatic injuries. But he says the manner of death still hasn't been determined.

University spokeswoman Janet Kacskos says Chavez was a good student and that school officials are reaching out to his family.

"Our hearts go out to them, and we want to do anything we can to help," Kacskos told the paper.

Chavez, a graduate of Hempfield High School, was studying business administration at Millersville, reported Lancaster Online.

Anyone with information on how he got hurt is asked to call West Hempfield police at 717-285-5191.
