Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sex With 7th Grader

A former middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 7th grade student nearly a year-and-a-half ago.

Police say Jessica Saienni, 30, a former 7th grade science teacher at Southwest Middle School in Reading, pleaded guilty earlier this month to having sexual contact with her 14-year-old student in her Bethlehem home.

They say Saienni seduced the young student, inviting him to help clean her classroom following the conclusion of the school year.

"She befriended this student," said Berks County District Attorney John Adams. "...They continued a relationship by texting each other."

Saienni allegedly texted nude photos of herself to the boy.

The accused teacher resigned from her position at the middle school in January. She was arrested in late February.

Saienni is the estranged wife of the son of Bethlehem Police Chief Mark Diluzio. Her husband, police officer Michael DiLuzio filed for divorce less than four hours after a detective served a search warrant at the couple's house.

"We're just as shocked as anyone else," the elder DiLuzio told the Morning Call in February. "This is between her and the authorities in Berks County."

This week, Saienni was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in prison and was banned from being on the property of any school, according to court records.

Other sexual assault charges against Saienni were dismissed, according to court records. She remains in Berks County Prison.
