12-year old Dakota Galusha died Monday morning after he was hit by a bus right outside his school.
Dakota's mother had dropped him off at Northampton Middle School in Northampton Borough, according to NBC10 Reporter Stacey Weaver. Investigators think the 7th grader may have been horsing around with friends when the incident happened. That was just after 7am, right before classes began.
Dakota died at St. Luke's hospital.
The boy's death has left the entire school community badly shaken, according to the district's superintendent, Linda Firestone. She said although students had handled it well, they were very, very upset because Dakota was a very, very well liked child; a very nice boy.
Local police and school district police Monday night were working to figure out exactly what happened. They spent much of the day reconstructing the incident.
