Man Pleads Guilty But Mentally Ill to Killing Caseworker at Delaware County Hospital

A man admitted Tuesday to killing a caseworker during a shootout in a Delaware County hospital's wellness center last summer.

Richard Plotts pleaded guilty but mentally ill to first-degree murder and attempted murder in relation to the July 24 shootout inside the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania that left 53-year-old Theresa Hunt dead and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Silverman grazed.

Plotts, now 50, had earlier stated his intention to plead guilty to the shooting where Silverman returned fire, injuring Plotts.
