A former Philadelphia high school principal has lost his credentials over accusations he helped students cheat on standardized tests.
The state Education Department posted a notice Tuesday about Arthur "Larry" Melton, the longtime leader of Bok Technical High School.
Melton surrendered his teaching and administrative credentials on July 17 over allegations that he violated the integrity and security of state exams for several years.
State officials began investigating city schools in 2011 after discovering statistically improbable results and suspicious erasures.
Bok's scores dropped sharply after new testing protocols were introduced in 2012. Melton, who retired that year, could not be reached for comment.
Overall, district officials say more than 130 staffers have been implicated in the scandal. Five educators face criminal charges, and two other principals also surrendered their credentials.
