Zoo Welcomes a New Lioness

The Philadelphia Zoo says the African female lion is settling in well in her new home

Her name is Tajiri, which means "rich" in Swahili. The Philadelphia Zoo proudly introduced the new female African lion on Friday.

She was born March of 2010, and came to Philadelphia from the Racine Zoo in Wisconsin. Zoo officials say she'll settling in well in her new home.

Tajiri came to the zoo as part of a recommendation from the Species Survival Plan. The plan is for her to breed with the zoo's male lion Makini.
