Masked Gunmen Threaten Family During Delco Home Invasion

Armed men broke into a home and held a family at gunpoint during a home invasion in Delaware County.

The suspects -- three armed with handguns and a fourth armed with a shotgun -- stumbled upon the homeowners when they broke through the basement door of a house on the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue in Collingdale shortly after 10: 15 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

"The fact we have these brazen men out there as a threat with weapons is a big concern," said Collingdale Police Chief Robert Adams.

Police said the suspects held a husband, wife and their two adult sons at gunpoint as they ransacked the basement and a few bedrooms.

Unable to find what they were looking for, the suspects left the house and fled the scene, investigators said.

No one in the family was injured during the incident. Police said it is unclear what the gunmen were trying to find.

Authorities have yet to release detailed descriptions of the suspects.
