Marvel Exhibit Powers Into Franklin Institute

Costumes worn by actors Chadwick Boseman, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are among the items that will fill The Franklin Institute this year for a new exhibit celebrating Marvel, the company behind characters Black Panther, Iron Man and Captain America.

The Franklin Institute on April 13 will open Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, which will feature over 300 original artifacts — costumes, props and original art — while tracing Marvel's story as well as characters' narratives.

The exhibit will break down how Marvel influenced and drew inspiration from popular culture, tracing how stories have responded to historical events and addressed broader issues like gender, race and mental illness.

“Marvel created a cultural landscape that spans generations and delivers massive, undeniable global appeal,” Franklin Institute President and CEO Larry Dubinski said in a statement.
