Son Who Survived Suicide Pact Sentenced to 6 Months

A suburban Philadelphia man who survived a suicide pact that left his mother dead has been sentenced to time served in jail.

Thirty-year-old Gus Yiambilis was arrested on charges including homicide, but a Bucks County judge dismissed the homicide charge last month.

Authorities said he was found with carbon monoxide poisoning in a Bensalem apartment where 59-year-old Karen Yiambilis was found dead in April.

Gus Yiambilis pleaded guilty Monday to aiding a suicide, recklessly endangering others and risking a catastrophe.

He was sentenced to the approximately six months he has spent in jail and ordered to spend seven years on probation.

The judge also ordered him to undergo a mental health and drug and alcohol abuse evaluations and abide by all treatments.
