A 23-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach while waiting on the westbound platform of the EL Tuesday afternoon.
The stabbing happened at about 12:10 p.m. at the Allegheny SEPTA station on the Market-Frankford Line, police say.
Police are looking for a black man, 5-feet 10-inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt and flower print shorts.
The suspect was in the company of a woman wearing all-black Muslim garb, who was carrying a large bag, and a 3-year-old child when the he stabbed the victim, according to police.
The stabbing victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
Westbound Market-Frankford Line strains were bypassing the Allegheny station after the stabbing.
There have been no arrests.
