Man “Snaps,” Kills Ex: Prosecutors

Jurors are slated to begin deliberations Tuesday in the trial of a central Pennsylvania man charged in the shooting death of his former girlfriend last year.

Forty-year-old Abraham Kline of Benton is charged in Columbia County in the May 2012 death of 35-year-old Jocelyn Romano at a home in Sugarloaf Township.

The (Bloomsburg) Press Enterprise says prosecutors are seeking a first-degree murder conviction, arguing that Kline intended to kill after Romano decided to move out.

Defense attorney David Lampman said a wound such as that inflicted on the victim is rarely fatal, which is evidence that his client never intended to kill.

Arguing for a lesser manslaughter conviction, he said Kline just wanted to stop Romano from walking out, and "snapped" in a moment of "despair and rage."
