Man Shot, Killed in Camden

36-year-old gunned down late Saturday night

A 36-year-old Gloucester Township man became Camden's latest homicide victim when he was shot and killed in the city late Saturday night.

Investigators say that police found 36-year-old Rahkeem Byrd shot multiple times in the 1100 block of Thurman Street. He was taken to Cooper Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

Authorities believe that Byrd was shot near the intersection of Louis and Thurman Streets, and made it back to the home and collapsed.

This was the 66th murder this year in Camden -- a record that unfortunately keep growing.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor's Office Investigator Pete Longo at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police Detective Shawn Donlon at (856) 757-7420.
