Man Shot in Bar Full of People

A man brought a gun into a Philadelphia bar full of people early Saturday morning and shot another man dead.

"Somebody got in. Snuck in with a gun and I want him captured," said the owner of Mr. Chicken and Bernice's Lounge on Dennie Street in Nicetown, who identified himself as “Chicken.”

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot in the back. The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. when there were about 40 people inside the place.

The bar owner said people were hollering and screaming. Some ran out of the bar. Others stayed. "We have a nice crowd coming in here. This was a beef between two people."

The gunman got away. But "Chicken" says it's just a matter of time before he's caught.

"He's on film. We have cameras inside and out. We will catch him."

"This stuff has to stop at all bars . . . people coming into your establishment and doing crazy things."

Two years ago, when the bar was called Buffy's Lounge, a 25-year-old woman was shot in the head when a gunfight broke out that involved five men. Johnika Tigget was an innocent bystander.
