3 Shot, 1 Dead in Shootings Around the City

Three people were shot in a matter of just six hours last night in the city, one which left a man dead after being shot in a North Philadelphia schoolyard.

Investigators say the first victim was shot multiple times in the chest at the Anna B Pratt Elementary School at 22nd and Dauphin Streets around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tyrone Ronald Sturgis, 29, was able to walk a short distance before he collapsed, according to authorities.

Sturgis died a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

"We found eight spent shell casings in the parking lot of Pratt Elementary school," said police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Small said investigators planned to look at school surveillance in hopes to learn more about possible suspects.

The bloody night continued at 11 p.m. when three men opened fire on a man along the 2100 block of Simon Street in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood.

The 35-year-old victim was hit multiple times and rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he was in stable condition this morning.

Three men were spotted flying the scene.

A 17-year-old was then shot in the upper leg around 3 a.m. along the 1900 block of S Bouvier Street in South Philadelphia. He was rushed to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition while multiple people were seen fleeing the scene.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.

Deadly violence also hit Wilmington, Del. overnight as Jermaine Goins Jr., 19, was shot and killed at the Hicks Anderson Community Center parking lot on W 5th Street Sunday night.
