An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a Reading city snow plow around 11:20 a.m. Monday.
The snow plow truck was driving north on 6th Street and attempting to turn left onto the 500 block of Penn Street when the male pedestrian was struck.
The 72-year-old victim was rushed to Reading hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The name of the victim wasn't immediately released.
Parts of Berks County received up to an inch and a half of snow Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Reading Police and the Berks County district attorney's office are investigating the incident and trying to find out exactly what happened.
Public works officials and the mayor's office have not commented on the accident.
