Pennsylvania Man Kills Man, Saws Body

A western Pennsylvania man will spend 40 to 80 years in state prison for robbing an acquaintance in a drug-related dispute and cutting up the body with a chain saw.

Jefferson County District Attorney Jeffrey Burkett says this was "a drug deal that really went bad."

Thirty-four-year-old Michael Shugars, of Brookville, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder Wednesday for killing 33-year-old Chet Haddow, of Punxsutawney, on Sept. 13, 2013.

State police charged Shugars after finding his fingerprints on the victim's hands.

Authorities believe the men were on friendly terms before Shugars killed Haddow, burned his car, then took the body home and dismembered it before disposing of the remains. Some of the body parts were found in a creek in Hamilton, a tiny village about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
