Man Found Dead on Street Leads to Hit-and-Run Investigation

Authorities are investigating what they believe to have been a fatal hit-and-run crash in the death of a man whose body was found on a northwestern Pennsylvania road.

The Erie Times-News reports that a westbound motorist spotted the body shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the eastbound passing lane of a street in east Erie.

County deputy coroner Dennis Suscheck said the 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday. His name wasn't released.

Police said they are investigating the death as a hit-and-run based on the victim's injuries. Suscheck said he had multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Police believe the crash happened between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, but they did not immediately have any witnesses or suspects in the case.
