A car split in half and the driver was critically injured during a crash in Belmar, according to police in New Jersey.
Sgt. Mark Walsifer told the Asbury Park Press that 23-year-old Joao Vicuna of Trenton was driving on Route 35 when his vehicle hit a pole early Sunday.
Vicuna was in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
It took hours to clear the accident scene.
