Assailant Uses Baseball Bat to Attack Woman and Smash Her Car

A man caught on camera attacking a woman and smashing her car with a baseball bat is wanted by Philadelphia Police.

Police said the brutal attack happened just before midnight Tuesday night at the intersection of 16th and Clearfield streets in the Glenwood section of Philadelphia.

A 26-year-old woman was driving north on Broad Street when an unknown male began beeping his SUV's horn at her, according to police. The SUV then followed the woman as she drove to 16th and Clearfield Streets when a man exited the SUV with a baseball bat.

Surveillance video showed that the man began to smash the windows of the woman's car with the bat. The woman then exited her vehicle and the suspect struck her with the bat multiple times, then threw her to the ground.

"He attacked as soon as she got out of the car," said the victim's mother, who did not want to be identified. "He didn't even give her a chance."

After smashing the rest of the woman's car windows, the man was seen entering the SUV on the passenger side and fleeing the scene.

The SUV was last seen heading west on Clearfield Street from 16th Street.

The victim was transported to Temple Hospital where she was treated for a cut to her hand and bruises. The victim's mother told NBC10 her daughter also suffered a broken wrist. She believes the incident was a road rage attack.

"It was definitely road rage for you to follow her," she said.

Police continue to search for the suspect.
