Amtrak Train Strikes, Kills Person on Tracks in Chester County, Stops SEPTA Service

A train struck and killed a person in Chester County Christmas morning.

Amtrak said the person was trespassing on the tracks in Malvern and was hit by a Keystone Service train at about 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Amtrak said there were 100 people on the train that was heading west from Philadelphia to Harrisburg, but no passengers or crew members were injured.

The train was held while authorities investigated, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority suspended service on a section of the Paoli/Thorndale lines between Malvern and Paoli for hours.
