Major Center City Streets Closing for Resurfacing Project

The Philadelphia Streets Department is making plans to resurface multiple Center City streets which means street closures.

Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced that these temporary street closures as well as parking restrictions will begin Monday at 7 p.m. The resurfacing and closures will be finished by early August.

The resurfacing project has three phases: street milling, manhole cover and utility box adjusting and, lastly, paving. The milling and utility box adjustments will be worked on by James J. Anderson Construction Co, Inc.

Street milling as well as paving later on will take place overnight from 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. while manhole and utility box adjusting will take place during the day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The road closures and parking restrictions are in place in order to complete the project. The entire project is being financed with 100% City Capital Budget Funds.
