Investigators say that the driver of a mail truck was under the influence of alcohol when she flipped her truck, causing a traffic nightmare in Delaware County yesterday.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers arrested Deborah Reynolds of Chester, Pa. after she “exhibited signs of alcohol impairment” following the crash along West Tree Road just past Painter Road in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon, according to State Police investigators.
Investigators said that Reynolds lost control of her U.S. Postal Service truck and crashed into a berm causing the truck to flip onto its side. The crash closed the roadway and backed up traffic on surrounding roads as crews investigated.
Troopers searched the 58-year-old truck driver’s purse and inside found an open container of alcohol.
The Postal Service issued this statement regarding the incident:
"The Postal Service Office of the Inspector General (OIG) will work with the Pennsylvania State Police, who are conducting the traffic investigation. This is an open investigation. Per Postal Service standard operating procedure, the employee has been placed in non-work status pending the results of the investigation."
Following the wreck, medics could be seen loading Reynolds onto an ambulance. Police didn’t reveal the extent of her injuries.
