Allentown's Crocodile Rock Music Venue to Be Torn Down

A music venue once known for bringing national acts to an eastern Pennsylvania city is now facing demolition.

The Morning Call reports Crocodile Rock in Allentown will be destroyed next week after City Center Investment Corp. bought the building Tuesday for $1.6 million.

Robert DiLorenzo, project manager for the developer, says the space will be used for a six-story residential and office building.

The music venue saw a drop in business after it lost its liquor license in 2013. Former owner Joe Clark closed the building in 2015.

Both the Zoning Hearing Board and the Neighborhood Improvement Zone Development Authority have approved the new project.

DiLorenzo says construction will last a year, and tenants will be housed by fall of 2018.
