Local Flight 93 Documentary to Screen at Festival

A locally made documentary about the crash of United Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001 is a finalist at an international film festival.

The Somerset Daily American reports Monday that the documentary "We Were Quiet Once'' is a finalist in the Moondance International Film Festival. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 26 to 29 in Mystic, Conn.

Somerset resident 23-year-old Laura Beachy made the film, and it features three area residents: the Rev. Alphonse Masherino, who opened the Flight 93 Chapel, Terry Butler, one of the only eyewitnesses to the crash, and Rick Flick, a first responder at the scene.

Beachy started the film for a class project, but is now seeking broader distribution.
