Local Entertainment Startup Plans to Rock Music Monetization

A Philadelphia-based entertainment company plans to upend artists' abilities to monetize their music by capitalizing on its voluminous collection of data that pinpoints similarities among consumers.

PredPop picked apart 25 years of chart-topping songs and unearthed their links to each other, creating an interactive map of the data.

The project is free to the public, and it was built as a gateway to the local startup's future, for-profit plans.

"People may not have realized if two artists collaborated on a song or if an artist was a songwriter on another hit," said co-founder Shelton Mercer. "We put those links together and you can see the data visualized on the map and watch the actual Youtube vide. There are literally thousands of songs."
