Lehigh Valley Man Tried Filming Teen Family Member in Shower, Assaulted Her: Police

A Lehigh Valley man tried to film a teenage family member in the shower and beat and choked her after she confronted him about it, police said.

Israel Santiago-Pacheco, 30, of Bethlehem, was arrested this week and charged with Simple Assault, Endangering the Welfare of Children and Invasion of Privacy.

The 15-year-old girl told police she stepped into the tub on Wednesday and noticed Santiago-Pacheco's phone above the shower head, court documents show. She grabbed it and discovered it was recording, police said.

Looking through the phone's memory, the teen found several videos of her, court documents said. She began deleting them and removed the SD memory card.

When the teen confronted Santiago-Pacheco about the recordings, police said he kicked the girl in the stomach and choked her until she started to blackout. When he let go to cut the SD card in half, the teen ran out of the house and called her father who called police.

Santiago-Pacheco was gone when officers arrived. They found a 1-year-old boy alone on the second floor of the family's home. The man was later arrested.

The suspect is being held on $125,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for next Wednesday.
