Judge Rejects Bid to Toss Statements in Father, Son Slaying

A judge has ruled that prosecutors may use statements a man and woman made to police following the murders of a father and son in their northeastern Pennsylvania home almost a year ago.

Thirty-two-year-old James Roche and 40-year-old Holly Ann Crawford are charged in Luzerne County in the April deaths of 73-year-old Ronald Evans and 43-year-old Jeffrey Evans.

Both sought to have their statements tossed out, but the (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice  reports that Judge Fred Pierantoni III ruled Friday that there was no evidence indicating that the statements weren't voluntary.

Police allege that Roche was jealous over Crawford's relationship with the older victim.

Crawford gained international notoriety in 2008 when she pierced kittens' ears and necks and marketed them as "gothic." She was convicted of animal cruelty.
