Bail Denied for Berwyn Sex-Tourism Suspect

Berwyn man charged with traveling overseas to have sex with 12-year-old boy

A federal judge has denied bail to a financier charged with traveling overseas to have sex with a 12-year-old Russian ballet dancer and continuing the relationship in Philadelphia.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Golden said Kenneth Schneider of Berwyn travels extensively overseas for work and has ample financial resources to flee.

Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Schneider began a sexual relationship with the 12-year-old boy in Moscow and continued the sexual relationship after bringing the victim to Philadelphia.

Schneider was extradited from Cyprus after his arrest there in March. He is the founder of the Apogee Foundation, a New York-based arts group.

Schneider's lawyer says he will fight the charges.
