A spokesman for the Pittsburgh-area's transit agency says two bus drivers could be fired if investigators confirm that their "joking" and "reckless" behavior caused one of them to crash, rolling her empty bus down a hillside.
Port Authority of Allegheny County spokesman Jim Ritchie says surveillance video inside one of the buses appears to show the drivers gesturing in a "joking" fashion moments before a bus driven by a male and one driven by a female brushed one another before the female's bus crashed through a guide rail and rolled 100 feet from Interstate 279 on Monday afternoon.
Neither bus was in service as they were being driven from a transit garage in Ross Township toward Pittsburgh about 2 p.m.
The female driver remained hospitalized Wednesday as investigators tried to determine whether the drivers were racing.
