Job Fair Draws Hundreds in Atlantic City

An estimated 1,500 people attended a job fair for unemployed casino workers in Atlantic City.

Lines snaked through the Atlantic City Convention Center on Wednesday.

State Labor Commissioner Harold Wirths says nearly 60 employers reported having 1,100 openings.

State Labor Department spokesman Brian Murray told The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1owJdyh ) it was the largest job fair the department has had in terms of turnout.

Hundreds of employees are out of work after Revel and the Showboat closed down over Labor Day weekend. Trump Plaza plans to close on Tuesday.

Trump Entertainment Resorts has filed for bankruptcy protection and threatened to close the Taj Mahal casino in November if it can't cut its expenses.
