Mayor Jim Kenney plans on discussing Rittenhouse Square's wall-sitting ban that was put in place due to complaints about marijuana smoking.
The rule, which went into effect Thursday, bans people from sitting on walls near a fountain in the park. Neighbors had complained that the practice led to pot smoking in the area.
Mayor Kenney commented on the ban on Twitter Saturday, telling people to "sit where you want."
A spokeswoman for Kenney's office also told NBC10 there would be discussions about the rule next week.
Jackie Whyte, a member of Friends of Rittenhouse, which manages the park, says the ban was implemented "due to continuous vandalism and marijuana smoking."
The city decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana in 2014.

A Facebook group is organizing a Sittenhouse Lunch Time Sit-On on Tuesday to perch on walls in protest of the ban. The group notes "the forecast is 50 and sunny, perfect for wall-sitting."
Another group is planning a Toke Back the Wall gathering on Inauguration Day, Friday, January 20th.
