The Jersey Journal is moving its headquarters out of Jersey City, where a major transportation hub - Journal Square - is named after the newspaper.
The newspaper, founded in 1867, announced Thursday it will move operations this fall from New Jersey's second largest city to the suburb of Secaucus.
Publisher Ken Whitfield told staff the new offices are designed with 21st century needs in mind.
He says the paper plans to establish a satellite office in Jersey City.
The Journal is printed at the plant of a sister paper, the Staten Island Advance in Staten Island, N.Y.
The Secaucus location will be the newspaper's fifth home.
It set up shop in what is now Journal Square in 1911.
