Philadelphia Man Accused in Armed Robbery of Montgomery County Pet Store

A Philadelphia man is accused in the armed robbery of a pet store in Montgomery County.

The incident happened about 8 p.m. Friday at the Pet Valu store in the 300 block of Old York Road in Jenkintown.

Investigators say the suspect, identified by police as Robert Ameen Young Jr., of Philadelphia, entered the store wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun.

Investigators say the suspect said to the employee β€œwhere’s the register?” and β€œgive me the money!” The suspect also said several times β€œdon’t do anything stupid!”

The employee opened a register and police say Young took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran out of the store.

After a brief chase in a car and on foot, Young was taken into custody by an Abington Police officer.

Police say a search of the getaway car yielded a loaded handgun and the stolen money.

Young is facing charges of robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, theft, fleeing and eluding police, terroristic threats and various other related charges.
