Interstate 95's Girard Avenue Exit to Close Until 2021

Drivers who normally exit at Girard Avenue can instead the Allegheny Avenue exit to Allen Street

Philadelphia drivers on southbound Interstate 95 could see their commute interrupted over the next two years.

The interstate's southbound off-ramp to Girard Avenue closed for construction Tuesday night and will remain that way until 2021, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

Drivers who normally exit at Girard Avenue can instead use the Allegheny Avenue exit to Allen Street.

The closure will result in the reconstruction of the southbound viaduct at the Girard Avenue Interchange, as well as the building of new on and off-ramps on the southbound side of the interchange, according to PennDOT.
